Yoga For Pelvic Floor Health (VIRTUAL EVENT)
March 2 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm$65
EVERYONE has a pelvic floor, and we all can benefit from ways to keep it healthy! Pelvic floor disorders can show up as urinary incontinence, menstrual issues, digestive issues, pain in the low back and lower extremities (knees, anyone?), and in the most extreme cases, pelvic organ prolapse. And pelvic floor disorders are not just a problem associated with giving birth. The way we walk, stand, sit, and move our bodies are all contributing factors that affect the function of the pelvic floor. Anxiety has been shown to increase resting tone in the pelvic floor, leading to further hypertonicity of the tissues. Even our breath patterns can put uneven forces on the pelvic floor, creating more tension. Problems with the pelvic floor are often not due to the tissues being “lax”, but because of weakness due to hypertonicity. Relaxing the pelvic floor and learning how to reduce excess forces as well strengthening the support muscles of the pelvis have been shown to be more effective than only focusing on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles.
Whether you have one or more of these symptoms, or none and you’d simply like to understand more about keeping the pelvic floor healthy, we are happy to have you join us in this journey toward better health for your pelvic floor! This workshop will draw on yoga teachings and practices to provide an integrative approach toward wellness. In this 4 week workshop, we will use yoga techniques such as meditation, breath-work, postural analysis and movement to develop and implement a plan of care for better health of the pelvic floor.
